Another book I picked up last year. I enjoyed this story. It during an era I am really interested in and hearing about the Underground Railroad is also an area that interests me. Amelia is a southern belle but she feels for the slaves. She is sent to stay with her aunt and uncle and it is here she unwittingly gets involved with the Underground Railroad. Jared is a young man who feels torn with duty and his convictions. He also feels for the slaves. He proves to be a writer and it is this that leads to Amelia’s Fiance accusing him of being the Mockingbird. I didn’t realise Knoxville was a divided city with some for the South and some for the North. I love books that not only tell a story but teach real history. I would have loved this book to continue on to learn more of what happened, but at the same time I loved the ending. Great read.
